Design, build, and manipulate objects in 3D dimensions in a virtual environment. Young students explore 3D versus 2D concepts and apply them to known skills first, then progress to using 3D design software to build and manipulate objects in a virtual environment. Proof your design with augmented reality apps to view your object prior to printing. Students complete virtual to physical by printing their 3D design on a 3D printer, also learning about the inner workings of 3D printers, materials, and common applications in the real world.
Older students begin with 3D design in software generated virtual representations, learning about best engineering practices when planning for 3D printer projects. Students will learn how to use the 3D printer, how to troubleshoot basic 3D printer problems, design adjustments, rafting, additive versus subtractive methods, and real-world needs and applications.
